William Bruce Frazier

January 7, 1935 — June 15, 2024

Mr. William Bruce Frazier, 89, passed away on June 15, 2024, in Florence, Alabama. A graveside service and interment will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 22nd, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville, with Rev. Rob Gill officiating.

Bruce was born on January 7, 1935, in the Webster community of Winston County. His parents moved to Louisville when he was one year old. After graduating from Louisville High School in 1952, he attended Mississippi State University, and later the University of Houston. He was employed by the Mississippi Valley Portland Cement Co. of Redwood, MS, for ten years, and later retired in 1998 after 27 years with the Yellow Freight Systems, located in Richland, MS. He was a Master Mason and Shriner, belonging to the Wahabi Shrine of Jackson, and the Masonic Lodge #51 of Hernando, MS.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, William Lamar Frazier and Mattie Sue White Frazier, a brother, Lamar Gene Frazier, Sr. (June), and a sister, Joan Lucille Brown, and her husband, Tommy.

He is survived by one son, Dr. William Garth (Lisa) Frazier of Florence, AL; a grandson, Stuart Ladd Frazier of Oxford, MS; a sister, Noneine Keene of Louisville, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials in memory of Bruce may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN; or St. Luke United Methodist Church of Tupelo, MS.

One of Bruce’s favorite Bible verses was Proverbs 3:5-13 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths. Don’t consider yourself to be wise; fear the Lord and turn away from evil. This will be healing for your body and strengthening for your bones. Honor the Lord with your possessions and with the first produce of your entire harvest: then your barns will be completely filled, and your vats will overflow with new wine. Do not despise the Lords’ instruction, my son, and do not loathe His discipline; for the Lord disciplines the one He loves, just as a father, the son he delights in. Happy is a man who finds wisdom and who acquires understanding.”
