Mr. Ted Haggard Carter, 78, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2019, at his home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 15th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Dr. Bob Schwanebeck officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bethsalem Cemetery in Choctaw County. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ted was born February 11, 1941, in Winston County, MS. A 1962 graduate of Louisville High School, he served for 34 years with the Louisville Police Department, retiring as chief. Mr. Carter also served in the Mississippi National Guard, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Haggard Carter and Archie Clark Carter. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane Taylor Carter of Louisville; a daughter, Christi Carter of Clinton, MS; two sisters, Dale (Karl) Beyer of Louisville, and Ann (C.S.) Stirling of Aliceville, AL; two grandchildren, Madison Hunt and Taylor Hunt; a special niece, Madelon Taylor; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers will be Mike Perkins, Donnie Graham, Fred Childs, Evan Llewelyn, Giles Ward, Gene Davis, John Woodward, Niles McNeel, Will Bane, and Dickie Caperton. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Graham, Tim Palmer, Andy Taylor, Steve Ball, and Lawrence Estes. Memorials may be made to French Camp, or the charity of your choice.
