Sally Marveen Moody, beloved educator and devoted member of her community, passed away peacefully at her home in Louisville on September 12, 2023. She was born on April 21, 1935, in Louisville, the daughter of Marvin and Eunice Moody.
Marveen began her distinguished teaching career with the Jackson Public School system. Throughout her years of service, she not only taught in various schools but also served as a librarian in different locations such as Florida, Tokyo, Japan, New Orleans, Picayune, MS, and Mississippi State University. Her dedication to education continued as she taught at the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indian school until her retirement.
Marveen's passion for knowledge was evident in her own pursuit of higher education. She graduated from Louisville High School, and dearly loved her alma mater and the class of 1953. After high school, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi College. Furthering her academic achievements, she obtained a Master's Degree in Elemtary Education and an Education Specialist degree form Mississippi State University.
Outside of her professional life, Marveen found solace and joy in various hobbies and interests. She was an active member of the Louisville Garden Club and derived immense pleasure from cultivating beautiful flowers. Time spent with her family brought Marveen great happiness and fulfillment.
Marveen will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Marvin and Eunice Moody; as well as two brothers, Paul Moody and Reverend Charles Moody.
She is survived by her nephews: Stephen (Carolyn) Moody; Stewart (Julie) Moody; and Charlie (Heather) Moody. Additionally, Marveen is survived by her sister-in-law, Carol S. Moody; and her great nieces and nephews: Will (Bell) Moody; Elizabeth Anne (Cam) Carroll; Flint Moody; Cal Moody; Levi Moody; Fern Moody; and Ellie Moody.
Visitation services will be held on September 15, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Porter Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM at Porter Funeral Home, with Dr. Heath Hillman officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Will Moody, Charlie Moody, Flint Moody, Cal Moody, Cam Carroll, and Steve Quinn.

Marveen's lifelong dedication to education and her unwavering commitment to her community will forever be remembered. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
