Mr. Monie Phillips, Jr., 82, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at his home in Lucedale, MS. Graveside services and interment will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 22nd, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Rook officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Phillips was born October 13, 1938, in Noxubee County, MS. He graduated from Nanih Waiya High School, and was a retired machinist from MRS Manufacturing Company in Jackson, MS. He served in the Mississippi National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Monie Phillips, Sr., a brother, Jimmy Phillips, and a step-daughter, Sandra Foster. He is survived by his wife, Mae Hemphill Phillips of Lucedale, MS; three sons, Monie Phillips, III, of Florida, Marty Aaron Phillips of Lena, MS, and Monie Jason Phillips of Texas; two step-daughters, Robin Carter of Louisville, and Teressa Huntley of Brandon, MS; a brother, Paul Phillips of Centre, Al; and 9 grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Monie Phillips, III, Marty Phillips, Jason Phillips, Billy Joe Carter, Wesley Donald, and Michael Huntley. Memorials may be made to the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, www.jwm.org.
