Mrs. Monica Merchant Taylor, 74, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 23rd, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Trent Jaudon and Rev. Rob Faulk officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in East County Line Baptist Church Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Monica was born May 11, 1948, in Louisville, MS, to Raymond and Estelle Alewine Merchant. She was a graduate of Louisville High School and East Central Community College. She worked as payroll clerk at Sparus Corp. for 23 years, before working at Taylor Machine Works as credit manager, where she retired after 27 years. She was a member of South Louisville Baptist Church. Monica loved collecting antiques and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Jerry Taylor. She is survived by three daughters, Honey (Byron) Nowell of McCool, MS, Angel (Eric) Whitehead of Louisville, and Lesley (Robert) Utz of Kosciusko, MS; a sister, Myrna (Terry) White of Louisville; two sisters-in-law, Joann (Lanoy) Adcock and Janette Nelson; four grandchildren, Anna Grace Whitehead, Taylor Luke Whitehead, Jerry Jack Nowell, and David Utz; and a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Eric Whitehead, Robert Utz, Byron Nowell, Luke Whitehead, Jerry Jack Nowell, Greg Kemp, and Ricky Patterson.
