Mary Alice Woodruff

September 26, 1919 — November 21, 2018

Mrs. Mary Alice Lloyd Woodruff, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Wednesday night November 21, 2018, at her home on Henry Allman Road. She was the widow of Woodrow Wilson Woodruff and the daughter of the late Champion and Tommie Eudora Tomlinson Lloyd all of Louisville. She was also preceded in death by her sister Edna Durance of Florida and brother Sherrill Lloyd of Clinton, Mississippi.      Mrs. Woodruff is survived by her three sons, Bobby Jack (Barbara) of Guyton, Georgia, Franklin (Frances) of Louisville and Terry Lee (Karen) of Ojai, California.  She was the grandmother of seven grandchildren Lin (Trudy) of Louisville, Marc (Callie) of Louisville, Beth Hemphill (Jason) of Louisville, Charles (Yvonne) of Camarillo, California, David (Jennifer) of Newberry Park, California, Todd (Stephanie) of Richmond Hill, Georgia, Stephanie Mikell  (Brett) of North Augusta, South Carolina.  Her eleven great grand grandchildren Katie Shotts (Jay), Nathan and John Hemphill, Andrew and Richard Woodruff all of Louisville, Emily, Jake, and Hailey Woodruff, of Camarillo, California, Ashlyn Mikell of North Augusta, South Carolina , and Olivia and Madelyn Woodruff of  Richmond Hill, Georgia.      She also leaves her sister Iona Ray of Louisville and numerous nieces and nephews.       Mrs. Woodruff and her husband and sons operated a Grade C and Grade A Dairy farm in the Estes Community.  Mr. Woodruff was recognized as the Dairy Farmer of the Year in 1962, but it was definitely a family affair as she and their sons worked closely with him.  She also worked at the Louisville Pants Factory and was a beautician.      She loved gardening and growing flowers.  Her grandchildren thought she was the best cook in the county and passed this and the love of the land on to her sons and grandchildren.      Visitation will be at Porter Funeral Home on Saturday night, November 24 from6 p.m. to 8 pm.and the funeral service will be at Flower Ridge United Methodist Church on Sunday November 25, at 2 p.m.      The Reverend Keith Williams and Reverend Michael Wells will be in charge of the service.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.     Pall bearers are her grandsons and grandsons in law Lin Woodruff, Nathan Hemphill, Andrew Woodruff, Richard Woodruff, Jay Shotts, Jason Hemphill, Todd Woodruff and Brett Mikell.
