Dessie Delilah “Lilah” Strickland, 56, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at her sister’s home in Ackerman, MS. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 5th, at 11:00 A.M. at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Lilah was born November 2, 1963, in Louisville, MS. She was a 1982 graduate of Louisville High School, and worked as an assistant at Magnolia College of Cosmetology in Jackson. She was a member of Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church in Ridgeland. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Henry and Hazel White Strickland; a brother, James Henry “Butch” Strickland; and a great niece, Carmen Smith. Lilah is survived by two sisters, Marie Butler of Jackson, MS, and Debrah Gordon of Ackerman; nieces and nephews, Deedra Bookout, Gina Smith, Kristy Johnston, Jennifer Burns, Brandy Burnett, Henry Strickland, Robert Strickland, Brian Gordon, and Neil Gordon; and a host of great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Brian Gordon, Trent Bookout, Neil Gordon, Bryce Bookout, Tyler Smith, and Wells Burns. Memorials may be made to SON Valley Home, P. O.
