Mrs. Kathy Lovorn Humphries, 78, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 8th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Kathy was born February 7, 1942, to Abbie and Tom Lovorn. She graduated from Nanih Waiya High School and Delta State University, and earned her Masters degree from Mississippi State University. She taught school and coached basketball for many years at Eiland Middle School and Louisville High School. She was a very active member of First Methodist Church, serving in many ministries of the church, including kindergarten director for many years. She was active in the North Mississippi Emmaus community, and loved to follow Mississippi State sports. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy King Humphries; two sisters, Mildred Long and Mary Ruth Moody; and a step-son, Brian Humphries. She is survived by her daughters, Shannon (Charlie) Smith of Louisville, and Kelli Dawkins of Starkville; a step-daughter, Angel Humphries of Pearl, MS; five grandchildren, Camryn Dawkins, Riley Dawkins, Drew (Corrin) Smith, Abbie (Trent) Dunn, and Mayson Smith; and two great grandchildren, Vivian Dunn and Burgin Dunn.
