Mrs. Julie Childress Easterling, 81, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Merritt Hospital in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 15th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Dwight Fleming and Rev. Nathan Moore officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Plattsburg Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Julie was born May 31, 1941, in Winston County, Mississippi. She was a graduate of Arlington High School, and worked for many years with TRW in Louisville, before she and her first husband owned and operated a poultry business in the Plattsburg community. She was a member of Plattsburg Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Childress; her parents, Charlie and Susie Hamilton Collins; her brothers, Lavell Collins and Daniel Collins; and her sisters, Cecil Glass and Louise King. She is survived by her husband, William Easterling; three daughters, Angie (Larry) Long, Carol (Rudolph) Gentry, and Alice (Walter) Westbrook, all of Philadelphia, MS; three sons, Chris (Crystal) Childress of Columbus, MS, Jeremy Childress of Noxapater, and Julian (Carla) Childress of Hattiesburg, MS; two sisters, Dorothy Strait of Union, MS, and Iva Nell Swindle of Noxapater; 20 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Justin Gentry, Jordan Payne, Drew Childress, Jace Childress, Jacob Busby, and Cody Rogers.
