John Denton Jowers

Mr. John Denton Jowers, 86, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018, at Winston Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 5th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Junior Davis officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home. Interment will be in Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia, MI. John was born May 2, 1932, in Winston County, to Ludie Mae Slawson and W. C. Jowers. He graduated from Calhoun High School, and served in the U. S. Army.   He retired after 31 years as an inspector with Ford Motor Company in Detroit, MI.   After retirement, he and his wife, Gladys, moved to Louisville in 1983, and he was a faithful member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Helland Jowers; three sons, Scott (Jory) Jowers, Russell Jowers, and Mark (Susan) Jowers; three grandchildren, Melissa (Mike) Linington, Mitchell (Hayley) Jowers, and Skyler Jowers. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church.
