Mr. John Elvin Isonhood, a beloved father, gained his heavenly wings on Friday, March 6, 2020, at his home in Louisville. John passed away at home after a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 8th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Tim Hudson officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home. Interment will be in Liberty Cemetery in Kosciusko, MS. John was born November 3, 1944, in Benton, MS. He was a graduate of Canton High School and attended East Central Community College. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. John was well known around Louisville for many years with his loan company, Louisville Credit Assn. After closing his loan business, he began a bus company – the red, white, and blue school buses seen all over town and surrounding counties. In his later years, John tended sheep, chickens, and had an awesome small garden. All who knew him could always stop by for a good conversation, a cold coke, and assurance they were visiting with a truly selfless man that would give anyone the shirt off his back. Heaven gained a great angel – he was looking forward to his heavenly home. John was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ann Isonhood; and his parents, Allene and Robert Isonhood. He is survived by his daughter, Amy Isonhood Corley of Louisville. Pallbearers will be Robbie Isonhood, Justin Isonhood, Conner Dixon, Tony Austin, Freddy Fulcher, and Julius Williams.
