Mr. James Wallace “J.W.” Spears, 89 passed away on May 6, 2021, at his home in Brandon, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 11th at Grace Baptist Church in Brandon, MS, with Rev. Jeff Walker officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the service time at the church. Graveside services will be at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at Center Ridge Methodist Cemetery in Winston County. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements J.W. was born February 15, 1932, in Neshoba County. He was the owner and operator of Spears Barber Shop for 50 years, and he was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Brandon. He was an Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. J.W. enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as tending to his garden. He was preceded in death by one son, Dave Spears; his parents, Lora Icy Spears and James Clinton Spears; and his siblings, Gladys, Faye, Jay, and Edley. He is survived by his wife, Frances Carr Spears of Brandon, MS; his daughter, Pam (Mike) Broadway of Brandon, MS; one son, Jim Spears of Brandon, MS; his sister, Gertie Blackmon of D’lo, MS; 4 grandchildren, Zachary Spears, Joshua Broadway, Joseph Broadway, and Whitney Spann; and 7 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Mike Broadway, Joshua Broadway, Joseph Broadway, Kerron Spann, Zachary Spears, and Barry Storey.
