Mae Yarbrough

September 7, 1936 — August 31, 2024

“God made a wonderful mother,

A mother who never grows old;

He made her smile of the sunshine,

And He moulded her heart of pure gold;

In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,

In her cheeks fair roses you see;

God made a wonderful mother,

And He gave that dear mother to us.”

 Iva Mae Jennings Yarbrough, 87, of Louisville, MS, passed away while being continuously surrounded by her loving family on August 31, 2024. She was born on September 7, 1936, in Attala County, MS, to William Vester and Maggie Curtis Jennings.

 She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. James M. Yarbrough, her parents, three brothers, William Haywood Jennings, Kermit Clifton "Tensie" Jennings, Clint Jennings, and two sisters, Jewel Earl Sanders, and Charlotte Faye McFarland.

Mae had no greater joy than to know that her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren are walking in the truth as children of God. She was a loving mother to a son, Perry (Barbara) Yarbrough of Louisville; three daughters, Jan (Larry) Addkison of Louisville, Pam (Derick) Metts of Starkville, and Penny (Evan) Llewelyn of Louisville; and a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren, Molly (Will) Taylor, Andrew (Meagan) Addkison, Chris (Amanda) Robinson, Jessica (Chad) Phillips, Caleb Metts, Landis (Josiah) Ledford, and Evan James Llewelyn; and loving great- grandmother to thirteen great-grandchildren, Maeley Taylor, Maggie Taylor, Connor Robinson, Emma Robinson, Lawson Robinson, Avalynn Robinson, Allie Phillips, Aubrey Phillips, Grayson Phillips, Hattie Metts, Will Metts, Anne Baker Metts and Sara Jean Metts, and eagerly anticipating the arrival of her fourteenth, Baby Ledford.

 A woman of deep faith, Mae was a member of Gum Branch Baptist Church whose members held a special place in her heart. Her unwavering belief in God was evident in every aspect of her life. With a servant heart, for near three decades she brought joy to the many residents at Tri-County Nursing Home in the role of Activities Director. Going beyond that role, she ensured all residents were filled with joy and happiness. She will be remembered for her strength, beautiful hair, warm and welcoming smile, fun-loving spirit, compassionate heart, and her all-encompassing love for her family. Her legacy of faith, love, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

 Serving as Pallbearers are Caleb Metts, Andrew Addkison, Chris Robinson, Evan James Llewelyn, Connor Robinson, Chad Phillips, Will Taylor and Josiah Ledford.
