Mr. Wallace Harlan Hatcher, 84, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Diversicare in Eupora, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 11th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Danny Irvin and Rev. Allen Baswell officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Harlan was born September 21, 1937, in Winston County, MS. He was a graduate of Nanih Waiya High School, and had a long career in law enforcement. He worked with the Louisville Police Department, the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Dept., and served as Chief of Police in Ackerman for many years. He was a Mason and Shriner, and was very active in putting on the Shriner’s Good Samarian Horse Show for many years. He was a member of Ackerman Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eunice Holder and John Hatcher; a son, Wallace Hatcher, Jr.; and a sister, Betty Lou White. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ann Dunn Hatcher of Ackerman; a daughter, Wanda Hatcher of Louisville; and a step-son, Allen Baswell of Ackerman. Pallbearers will be Buddy Patterson, Lenny Fulton, Dobbin Johns, Wade Hailey, Joey Loper, and Burr Warner. Memorials may be made to the Ackerman Baptist Church, P. O. Box 277, Ackerman, MS, 39735.
