Glenda Barrett Miles

Mrs. Glenda Ree Miles, 74, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at her home in Noxapater, MS.  Graveside services and interment will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Friday, September 29^th, at Vernon Assembly of God Cemetery, with  Antoine Stokes, Matt Gillis, and Dwayne Barrett officiating.  Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.   

Glenda was born April 23, 1949, in Winston County.  She worked as a supervisor for many years at Spartus Corp., and later as an assistant school teacher in the Winston County School system.  She was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Winnie Myrtle and Willie Barrett.    

She is survived by her husband Wayne Miles of Noxapater;  two sisters, Louise Parker of Louisville, and Travelene (Bud) Gillis of Sturgis, MS; a brother, Joe (Arlene) Barrett of Noxapater, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.       

Pallbearers will be Mark Gillis, Matt Gillis, Dwayne Barrett, Antione Stokes, Bobby Jack Barrett, Charles Lovorn, and Brooks Lovorn.

Memorials in Glenda’s memory may be made to Shriner’s Childrens Hospital, Shreveport, LA;  or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN; or Baptist Children’s Village, Jackson, MS.
