Don was born February 6, 1943, in New Jersey. He was an Army veteran and served in Vietnam. He was a superintendent with Louisville Utilities for 33 years. He was one of only two men certified in water and waste water treatment with the city. Don was known as “Mr. Fix-It”. He often said he could fix “anything from a warped wheel to a broken heart”. Don loved his family, his farm, and his friends. One of many quotes was, “we’ve done so much with so little for so long that we can do anything with nothing”.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Patrick “Sarge” Sheldon; and his parents, Carolyn and Warren Sheldon.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon Cadmus Sheldon; a daughter-in-law, Sue Sheldon; a grandson, Steven Tyler Sheldon, all of Louisville; and very special extended family, J. R. and Angela Sloan, and Scott and Dixi Kohrs.
The family would prefer no flowers. Memorials in Don’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
