Dixie Broadwell

Mrs. Dixie Lee Broadwell, 76, passed away Thursday April 29, 2021 at Winston Medical Center in Louisville. Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, May 3rd at 4:00 pm with Rev Mike Childs officiating. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Broadwell was born October 19, 1944 in Houston, Texas, to Gerald William Burmeister and Wilma Lee Goodnight Burmeister. She was a longtime resident of Houston and later Los Vegas before moving to Philadelphia MS. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Broadwell moved to Louisville. Her career as an executive secretary afforded her the opportunity to work in several different industries. Dixie was a champion bowler winning many trophies, titles and championships all over the United States throughout the years. She was inducted into the Houston Bowling Hall of Fame and was a member of the USA bowling team winning two gold medals, the eqivalent of an Olympic gold medal. Mrs. Broadwell is survived by her sister, Gerry (Charles) Clark of Louisville; nephew Chuck Clark; nieces Courtney (Evan) Buxner and Samantha (Britt) Bookout, as well as 4 great nephews and one great niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Wayne Broadwell. Memorials may be made to the Media Fund at First Methodist Church, P. O. Box 523, Louisville, MS, 39339.
