Barbara Hendrix Mathews

Mrs. Barbara Hendrix Mathews, 79, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at her home in Louisville, MS. Visitation will be Thursday, November 4th, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Porter Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at New Hope Cemetery, with Mr. Steve Hendrix officiating. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Barbara was born August 14, 1942, in Louisville, MS. She was a graduate of Mississippi University for Women, and was a teacher. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Durward Mathews, II; her parents, Iva and Talmadge Hendrix; a daughter, Hope Mathews; a son, Horace Durward “Sonny” Mathews, III; two brothers, Jerry Hendrix and Joe M. Hendrix. She is survived by four sisters, Joy Childs of Louisville, MS, Rebecca Ellis of Louisville, MS, Linda (Randy) Childs of Arkadelphia, AR, and Sue (Charles) Quebedeau of Madison, MS.
