Mr. Arthur Lee Hartness, 85, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2020, at his home in Louisville, MS. Graveside services and interment will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Tuesday, August 4th, at Murphy Creek Cemetery with Rev. Junior Davis officiating. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Arthur Lee was born August 12, 1934, in Noxapater, MS. He was a graduate of Noxapater High School, and a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville. He worked for Taylor Machine Works for over 27 years. Arthur Lee had a fascination with vehicles of all kinds. He loved to drive, and drive fast. He later worked for Mr. Doug Hudspeth at Rebel Auto Parts, and was proud of the radio commercial that deemed him as “the fastest delivery man in town”. He enjoyed people and spent many days with Mr. John Winstead at Winstead Body Shop, and enjoyed visiting with people when he worked with Porter Funeral Home. Arthur Lee was a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather. He loved and spoiled all his girls. He was preceded in death by his parents, Berdie Lee and William “Bill” Hartness; a brother, J. B. Hartness; a sister-in-law, Christine Nowell Hartness; and a niece Sheila Hartness Gomillion. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nita Halfacre Hartness of Louisville; two daughters, Tami (Kevin) Whitehead and LeAnne Hartness, both of Louisville; two grandchildren, Mary Beth Sullivan (Jasmine Gordon) and Allye Whitehead (Dre Whitfield). Pallbearers will be John Winstead, Jerry McCullough, John Wright, Doug Hudspeth, Freddy Fulcher, and Dan Curran. Memorials may be made to Murphy Creek Cemetery Fund, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
