Henry Lamar Clark died on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Winston Medical Center at the age of 94. Visitation at Porter Funeral Home will be on Monday, June 28, 2010, from 9:00-10:00 A.M. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Scott Phillips officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at the Masonic Cemetery. Lamar was the son of the late Velma Hathorn and Henry Grady Clark and was born on November 26, 1915, in Louisville, Mississippi. He graduated from Louisville High School in 1933. Lamar attended Mississippi State College where he was a member of the ROTC and graduated in 1938 with a B.S. degree in Agronomy. He retired from the U.S. Soil Conservation Service where he was employed for many years. Lamar joined the Army Reserves and was called to active duty immediately after Pearl Harbor during World War II. Lamar’s service in the military was quite impressive. His distinguished military career included him being a Lieutenant Colonel and he took much pride in his accomplishments while in the military. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Lamar was preceded in death by his parents, Velma and Grady Clark, and his sister, Virginia Clark Carroll of Mobile, Alabama. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia White Raven Clark; one step-son, James Steven White of Louisville; two step-daughters, Susanne White Galtney and Lisa White Burgan, both of Houston, Texas; nine step-grandchildren; a nephew, Henry Holmes (Hank) Carroll of Miami, Florida; and a niece, Dana Jo Carroll of Scotia, New York.
