Mr. James T. “Jim” Wood, Sr., 89, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 19th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Johnny Collins officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Noxapater. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Wood was born August 17, 1928, in Louisville, MS. He retired after 26 years of service in the U.S. Air Force, and was a Vietnam War Veteran. Mr. Wood also worked as a postal carrier, at TRW, and as a cattle farmer. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Wood; his parents, Edna Myres Wood and George Wood; four sisters, Lorene Wood, Lucille Wood, Zelma Earline Wood, and Esther Wood Duncan; and one brother, Walter C. Wood. Jim is survived by two sons, James T. (Renee) Wood, Jr. of Destin, FL, and Scot Wood of San Francisco, CA; one granddaughter, Megan Wood; and a nephew, Jimmy Duncan. Pallbearers will be James Wood, Scot Wood, Greg Duncan, Jimmy Duncan, Ronnie Mitchell, Mark Donald, and Joe Morgan.
