Mr. Carl Easley “Buff” Ming, 97, passed away January 23, 2018, at Baptist Golden Triangle Medical Center in Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, January 26th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Mayo and Rev. Grady Crowell officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Murphy Creek Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Ming was born September 8, 1920, in Winston County, MS. He graduated from Bond High School. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1942 thru 1946, where he was Gunner’s Mate Third Class on the U. S. S. Bennington. He retired from Southern Natural Gas; and was a member and deacon at Murphy Creek Baptist Church. He loved gospel music and served as president of the Mississippi State Gospel Singing Convention. He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Hamill Ming; his parents, Myrtle and Dewey Carl Ming; a daughter, Carlene Dickerson; a son, Charles Bevil Ming; a grandson, Carl Dickerson; two sisters, Sara Ethel Riley and Millie Henderson; and a brother, Buster Ming. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Holland of Hernando, FL; a daughter-in-law, Crystal Ming of Baytown , TX; a son-in-law, Robert Dickerson of Louisville; two sisters, Kay Frances Walsh of Roselle, IL,, and Susan Alewine of Turnbull, TX; a brother, Bobo (Barbara) Ming of Louisville; three grandchildren, Charles Russell Ming, Charlsye Hawks, and Crisanna Ming; and three great grandchildren, Celeste Ming, Jake Tillman, and Lukas Ming. Pallbearers will be Ricky Miller, Freddy Fulcher, Russell Ming, Duane Culpepper, Junior Stewart, and Matt Walsh. Honorary pallbearers will be George Edmonds, Darry Crowell, Mike Smith, and John Walsh. Memorials may be made to the Murphy Creek Cemetery Fund.
