Dorothy Jean Cox, 77, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 30, 2017, at her daughter's residence in Macon, MS. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M., with funeral services to follow at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 2, at Doty Springs Baptist Church in Ethel, MS, with Rev. Tony Fortenberry officiating. Interment will follow in Doty Springs Cemetery. Ms. Cox was born August 12, 1939, to George Preston and Ruby Hodge McCool. She was a member of Doty Springs Baptist Church. There was nothing in this world that Dorothy loved more than her family. She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Gaylord and husband, Richard, of Macon, and Samantha Booth, of Meridian. Dorothy is also survived by two sisters, Ruthie Leonard, and Nancie Bradford and husband, Johnny. Also left to mourn the passing of their “MawMaw” are six grandchildren, Brook Thrash and husband Alex, Courtney and Sara Gaylord; and Tyler Cox, Kaitlyn Allgood and husband Todd; Alley Hudall and husband Logan; as well as seven great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Cailee and Bud Thrash; Cohen and Layden Cox; Dawson and Daxton Allgood. She was preceded in death by one daughter Phyllis Saxton Morgan, husband Larry Cox, her parents; two sisters, Daisy Algood and Annie Innabnit; and six brothers: Doris, Clifton, Charlie, Robert, Keith and Darl Edward McCool. Serving as pallbearers will be Brad Bradford, Randy Edwards, Billy McCool, Mike McCool. Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Doty Springs Baptist Church.
