Mrs. Jimmie Blaine Cockrell, 85, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at her son’s home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 9th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Jonathan Peeples officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Cockrell was born July 14, 1931, in Sunflower County, MS. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Cockrell; her parents, Myrtle and Edward Blaine; and a grandson, Steve Sloan. Jimmie is survived by two sons, Kacey Sloan and Barry Sloan, both of Louisville; a sister, Elizabeth Nichols of Louisville, a brother, Pete Blaine of Louisville; two half-sisters, Diane Blaine and JoAnn Humphries; a half-brother, David Blaine; and grandchildren, Clint (Shelby) Sloan, Jason Paul Sloan, Matthew Sloan, and Mallory (Steven) Eaves; adopted grandson, Ryan Egger; and two great grandchildren, Seth Griffin and Zach Sloan. Pallbearers will be Matthew Sloan, Clint Sloan, Jason Paul Sloan, Ryan Egger, Dan Sullivan, Kiley White, Giles Ward, and Lenny Fulton.
