Mrs. Myrtice Weeks Gillis, 90, died January 23, 2017 at the Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 25th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. James Mills and Rev. Danny Cheatham officiating. Interment will be in Antioch Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12:30 P.M. until the service time at the funeral home. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Gillis was born September 26, 1926 in Winston County, MS. She was a homemaker, a factory worker, and a member of Gum Branch Baptist Church in Sturgis, MS. Myrtice was gifted in quilting, and loved to make doll dresses. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Gillis; her sons, Rev. Phil Gillis and Paul Gillis; and her parents, Burket Weeks and Vinnie Love Rhodes Weeks. She is survived by four grandchildren, Tina (Ronnie) Higginbotham, Amy (Richard) Eairheart, Robert (Kristy) Gillis, and Hope (Chad) Moody; seven great grandchildren, Ethan Higginbotham, Taylor Eairheart, Landon Eairheart, Burket Gillis, Dalton Moody, Connerly Moody, and Hayes Moody; two daughters-in-law, Lady Gillis and Lynda Gillis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
