Mr. William Prentiss Burrage, 91, died Thursday, August 4, 2016, at the Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 7th, at Harmony Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Lundy and Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at Porter Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Interment will be in Harmony Baptist Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Burrage was born September 24, 1924, in Winston County, MS. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army and Marine Corp. He retired from Brookley Field Airforce Base in Mobile, AL. After retirement, he was in automobile sales with Ross Motor Company and Watlins Ford. Prentiss was also a Mason and a Shriner, and a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He helped organize and operate the Nanih Waiya Water System. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl Fulton Burrage and Earnest Kirk Burrage; and one brother, Daniel Royce Burrage. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Jewel Gregory Burrage of Louisville; three sons, William Earnest Burrage of Louisville, MS, Jimmy Royce (Glenda) Burrage of Louisville, MS, and Gregory Prentiss (JoAnne) Burrage of Caledonia, MS; one sister, Mary Ellen Holeman of Warner Robbins, GA; 5 grandchildren, Chris Burrage,Jason Burrage, April Butler, Teri Larmour, and Keri Fortner; and 5 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Larry Gregory, Donnie Gregory, Bill Rogers, William Rogers, Lamar Parks, and Luke Parks.
