Mrs. Mary Coleman Hankins went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Select-Specialty Hospital in Jackson, MS at the age of 87. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM with visitation from 11:00 until 1:00 at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville, MS on Saturday, February 27th, with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville. Mrs. Hankins was born September 25, 1928 at Gholson, MS to Ed and Sarah Coleman. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, W J Hankins. She is also survived by a son, Daniel Hankins of Scottsdale, AZ, two grandchildren, Erica Brooks and Kristin Vegh of North Scituate, RI, a sister, Charlene Price of Louisville, and many nieces and nephews. Her daughter Deborah passed away in April 2012. Mrs. Hankins along with her husband were faithful members of the Southside Assembly of God in South Jackson since 2004. In addition to her daughter, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Hazel Sanborn, Edna Charlton, Thomas Coleman, Phillip Coleman, Beatrice Davidson, and Jessie Persons. Mrs. Hankins became a born-again Christian at the age of 14 when she lived with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ed Coleman at Noxapater, MS. After graduating from high school she moved to Meridian, MS where she attended and obtained a certificate from a Business College. She then moved to Prichard, AL, There she met Evangelist W J Hankins and they were married on July 12, 1949. They traveled extensively in evangelistic work for about two years after which they pastored a church in Sheffield, AL. Sometime later they left the pastorate in Sheffield and moved to New Orleans, LA. Two children were born to them in New Orleans, Deborah Ann and Daniel. From New Orleans they moved to Walpole, MA and lived there for 36 years. While there they pioneered a church in Norwood, MA and later moved to Walpole. In 2002 they moved to Brandon, MS where they lived when Mrs. Hankins passed away. Pallbearers will be Joel Price, Isaac Price, Thomas Price, Kevin Price, Gene Persons, Bobby Charlton, Brad Addkison, and Bob Persons.
