Beverlye Wood

Mrs. Beverlye Smith Wood, 64, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015, in Kemper County. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 2nd, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Interment will be in Whitehall United Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Wood was born September 17, 1951, in Winston County, MS. She was a piano teacher in the public school system, having lived most of her life in Columbus, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wood; and her parents, Flora Anne Ming Smith and Barney T. Smith. She is survived by her brother, Frank Smith; her niece, Deidre Sanders; and her nephews, Scott Smith and Stephen Smith. Pallbearers will be Stephen Smith, Scott Smith, Hunter Sanders, Rene Bankston, Robbie Stapleton, Jimbo Stapleton, D.K. Boydstun, and Kirk Sisson.
