Mrs. Anne Ming Smith, 85, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015, in Kemper County. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 2nd, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Interment will be in Whitehall United Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Smith was born January 27, 1930, in Winston County. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, and for over 30 years she served as the church pianist. She taught piano at Nanih Waiya, Noxapater, and Sturgis, and she was a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney T. Smith; her parents, Eva Brown Ming and Hilary Ming; one daughter, Beverlye Wood; and one brother, Billy Ming. She is survived by her son, Frank Smith of Louisville, MS; one sister, Molly Estes of Macon, MS; five grandchildren, Stephen Smith, Scott Smith, Deidra Sanders, Amanda Ham, and Kevin Gregory; and 11 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Stephen Smith, Scott Smith, Hunter Sanders, Rene Bankston, Robbie Stapleton, Jimbo Stapleton, D.K. Boydstun, and Kirk Sisson.
