Hampton Lamar Hurt, age 93, of Louisville, MS, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Winston County Nursing Home. He was born on October 14, 1922 in Louisville, MS to the late Hampton and Mae Hurt. Lamar was self-employed and the founder of Atlas Envelope, Inc. which he operated for over 60 years. He invented many of his own envelope machines and has two U.S. patents for x-ray envelopes. The double-sided x-ray envelope is still popular today. Lamar is preceded in death by his brothers; Morris, Howard, Elon, John Earl, and Zeno Hurt; and sister, Elton Glassco. He leaves his loving family, and wife of 17 years, Joyce Hurt of Louisville, MS; daughter Delphia Sanders; sons Mickey Hurt and wife Cindy, and Gary Hurt and wife Luvith, all of Hattiesburg, MS; two sisters, Etta H. Gentry of Mobile, AL and Joy Peters of Daphne, AL; seven grandchildren, Dylan Sanders, Luke Hurt, Stephanie Holliman, Kristy Brown, Matt Hurt, Taylor Hurt, and Vivian Hurt; and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 5th, 2015 at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Grady Crowell officiating. Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Ellison Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ellison Ridge Cemetery Fund.
