Prentiss Shumaker

Mr. Prentiss Byron Shumaker, 77, died Sunday, March 29, 2015 in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, April 1st, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Dowd officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 AM until service time at Porter Funeral Home. Interment will be in Rural Hill Cemetery. Mr. Shumaker was born August 14, 1937, in Louisville, MS. He was a graduate of Lobutcha High School and was an Army veteran. He was retired from sales in the building supply business. He was preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Inez Shumaker; a sister, Juanita Jennings; and a brother, Douglas Shumaker. He is survived by a daughter, Stephanie (Scott) Hudson of Box Springs, GA; a step-son, Britt (Tannnis) Danley of Columbus, GA; a sister, Juanice Watson of Noxapater, MS; two brothers, Donald (Dale) Shumaker of McCool, MS, and Dwight (Frankie) Shumaker of Philadelphia, MS; two grandchildren, Jordan and Layne Hudson; and two step-grandchildren, Campbell and Tristan Danley; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Wendell Massey, Benard Tabor, Reggie Shumaker, Timothy Shumaker, Billy Joe Ray, and Joey Lowery. Memorials may be made to the Rural Hill Cemetery Fund.
