Rev. Walter Reed, 86, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 8th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Albert Reed and Rev. Melvin Chase officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Good Hope Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Rev. Reed was born November 10, 1928, in Winston County, MS. He was a retired minister, and an Army Veteran having served during The Korean Conflict. He was a member of New Life Apostolic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Ella and John Henry Reed. He was a loving husband and is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris Nell Holdiness Reed of Preston, MS; his twin sister, Walterine Nowell of Louisville; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Joy & Jerome Lovorn, Misty & Keith King, and Mandy & Wesley Bradley. Pallbearers are Keith King, Wesley Bradley, Stephen Hutchison, Jerry Ferguson, Jeffery Grimshel, Dacey Ferguson, and Ricky Morgan. Honorary pallbearers are Harry Nowell, Jeff Nowell, Misty King, Jay & Jerome Lovorn, Mandy Bradley, Jessie Ford, and Sonny Ford. Memorials may be made to New Life Apostolic Church, Good Hope Cemetery Fund, or the charity of your choice.
