Agnes Landberg

Agnes Louise Carr Landberg of Biloxi MS passed away peacefully at home on 14 September 2014 at the age of 91. It is a glorious day as she will finally meet her Jesus. She was born 18 July 1923 to Ollie Mae Carr and Wilmon Carr. They soon moved from Tallahassee FL to Louisville MS where she was raised in Center Ridge Methodist Church and graduated high school in 1942. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Landberg, Wilmon Carr (father), Ollie Mae Carr (mother), James Hyde (brother-in-law), and David Spears (nephew). She is survived by her son, Charles Landberg (Wilma) of Biloxi, her sister, Emma Mae Hyde of Louisville, her sister, Frances Spears (Jimmy) of Brandon, niece, Pam Broadway (Mike) of Brandon, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a long list of dear friends, and her faithful companion, Punkin. In 1945, Agnes married James Landberg and moved to Fergus Falls, MN where she belonged to St Augstanna Lutheran Church. They then moved to Fargo ND where they belonged to St Marks Lutheran Church. They were blessed with their only child/son, Charles, in 1947. In 1954, they moved to France with the United States Air Force and stayed four years, returning in 1958 to Keesler AFB settling in Gulfport, Mississippi. They joined St Matthews Lutheran Church in Gulfport, where Charles took catechismand has been a devoted member ever since. Agnes worked for the Broadwater Hotel and the Buena Vista Hotel in Biloxi as a telephone operator for several years. In 1964, she entered Civil Service as a telephone operator at the Naval CB Base in Gulfport, retiring in 1979. She always enjoyed her yard work and flowers as they brought her great comfort. It was her “therapy”¸ she would always say. Also, she loved crocheting, painting, needlepoint, cooking and baking. She was a devoted mother, wife and friend. The family gives special thanks to the staff on the 4th and 5th floor at Biloxi Regional Hospital and the staff at Greenbriar Nursing home in Biloxi. Also, a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Gentiva Hospice in Biloxi, as well as Anita Brewer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gulfport Humane Society Thrift Shop in Gulfport MS. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, 16 September 2014, at 3:00 pm at Porter Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may visit from 1:00pm until service time. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville, MS.
