Mrs. Bertie Lee Ivy, 94, went home to meet her Lord and Savior on May 10, 2014 at Carrington Nursing Center in Starkville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 12th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Craig Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Ivy was born on May 1, 1920, to Stella and Jess Odom. One of fourteen children, she was the last to go home. She was born in Oktibbeha County, but later moved to Pascagoula, MS. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church, which she loved dearly. She worked in different places as a store clerk and cashier. For 20 years, she worked at The Flea Market in Pascagoula. When Hurricane Katrina hit the gulf coast, her home was flooded and she moved back to Winston County for five years. The last five years, she lived at Montgomery Gardens Assisted Living in Starkville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Ivy. Bertie Lee did not have any children, but is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
