Russell E. Hobgood

Mr. Russell Elliott Hobgood, Jr, 84, died Saturday May 31, 2014 at Pioneer Hospital in Ackerman, MS. Graveside services will be held Monday, June 2, at 11:00 AM at Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, with Rev Rob Faulk officiating. Mr. Hobgood was born July 21, 1929 in Laurel MS to Edith Virginia Anderson and Russell Elliott Hobgood Sr. He was retired as a Human Resource Manager for the Mississippi State Personnel Board. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and had worked as an investigator with the Louisiana State police. He was involved in different capacities with numerous other law enforcement agencies as well. Mr. Hobgood is survived by his wife of 62 years, Audrea Jones Hobgood of Ackerman; his son, Russell E (Doris) Hobgood, III of Brandon; his daughters, Mary Edith Butler of Aurora IL; and Sara (Ben) Lloyd of Oxford; his sister, Rich (Al) Richmond of Sedona, AZ and three grandchildren, Kathryn Hobgood, Lauren Hobgoo, and David Hust. Memorials may be made to French Camp Academy or The Salvation Army.
