Mr. Richard H. Woodward, 54, died Friday, February 28, 2014, at Pioneer Community Hospital in Ackerman, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 3rd, at Whitehall United Methodist Church, with Rev. Kyle Ivy, Rev. Mike Dowd, and Rev. Stacy Parvin officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Whitehall Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Woodward was born May 28, 1959, in Louisville, MS. He was a 1977 graduate of Louisville High School, and was a graduate of East Central Community College and Mississippi State University. He was a vending company manager, and a very gifted craftsman of wooden bowls. He was a volunteer fireman, and a member of the Craftsmen’s Guild, Louisville Lions Club, and Whitehall United Methodist Church. Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clyde & Florence Woodward, Houston & Mary Lee Price; and other family members, Lawrence & Ada Ruth Bradford, Ruth Hancock, Lewis Eugene Hancock, and Genia Lynne Hancock. He is survived by his wife, Ada Hancock Woodward of Louisville, MS; his parents, Jack & Hildreth Woodward of Louisville; a sister, Neah Kathryn (Jennings) Bryan of Flowery Branch, GA; his mother-in-law, Emily Gregg of Louisville; and other family members, Brad & Gina Hancock, Mitchell (Tabs) Kuykendall, and Courtney Hancock. Pallbearers are Ricky Luke, Dustin Pearson, David Luke, Jeffrey Woodward, Tim Tabor, Clint Howard, John Woodward, and Jeff Reed. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Yarbrough, Garvin Whitten, Kendall Price, Bobby Batte, Charlie Attaway, Charles Miller, Allen Watts, Frank Higgason, Ray Bolton, Allen Ray Hall, Jerry Pearson, Thomas Eaves, Don Shumaker, Jerry Webb, Jimmy Clyde Dempsey, Louisville Lions Club, and the LHS Class of 1977. Memorials may be made to the Lion’s Club Sight Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
