Royce McBrayer

July 28, 1926 — January 15, 2014

Mr. Clinton Royce McBrayer, 87, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at his home in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 17th, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the church. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. McBrayer was born July 28, 1926, in Winston County, MS. He retired after 42 years as Superintendent of the Louisville District for Southern Natural Gas. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, having joined in 1958, and was a faithful member of The Ed Livingston Sunday School Class. Mr. McBrayer was also an Army Veteran of World War II, where he served in the 3rd Infantry, 14th Armored Division in France, Germany, and Belgium in 1944 under General Patton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nannie Eaves and Escar Eugene McBrayer; and two brothers, Bill McBrayer and Boyce McBrayer. He is survived by his wife, Opal Shepherd McBrayer; his daughter, Maria (Ricky) Hartness, both of Louisville; two brothers, Cecil McBrayer of Weatherford, OK, and Richard McBrayer of West Point, MS; and two grandchildren, Bailey Hartness and Nan Hartness. Pallbearers will be Hap Hickman, Gary Hillhouse, Kenny Bourland, Ed Gresham, Charles Bond, Giles Ward, Cliff Hudson, Steve Triplett, Ester Taylor, and Frank Kennedy. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 523, Louisville, MS, 39339.
