Mrs. Betty Walker Clay, 84, died Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 14thth, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Junior Davis and Rev. Billy Bowie officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Clay was born September 24, 1929, in Quincy, Florida. She retired after 30 years as office manager for Dixie Wholesale Waterworks. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edith and Lewis Carl Walker; a brother, Jerry Walker ,and a sister, Eddie Faye Walker. After the death of her mother, she was raised by her step-mother, Eddie Lou Walker. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Mantel Clay of Louisville. Other survivors include Virginia Clay of Enterprise, MS: Sylvia and Carlos Cordon of Franklin, N.C., and Charles and Tricia Clay of Georgetown, TX; and 12 nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Olyn “Sonny” Clay, Dr. Todd Brand, Sonny Turnage, Tre Turnage, Burt Flannagan, and M. D. McMinn. Memorials may be made to the Library Fund at First Baptist Church of Louisville; or St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
