Mrs. Catherine McGahey Smyth, 93, died Sunday, December 23, 2012, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 26th, at Louisville Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Sandra Sisson and Rev. Chris Kiepe officiating. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday at Louisville Presbyterian Church from 1:00 PM until service time. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Smyth was born October 25, 1919, in Winston County, MS. She was a graduate and valedictorian of Bond High School. She was a founding member of Lake Tiak O’Khata Resort. She was an artist, and painted into her 90’s; and was an invited member of the American Society of Botanical Artist. She was a longtime member of Louisville Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Smyth; her parents, W. C. and Ora Bell McGahey; and a brother, C. C. "Lucky" McGahey. She is survived by a daughter, B. J. Kelleghan of Louisville; a son, Charles (Beverly) Smyth of Louisville; three grandchildren, Leslie Charles Smyth, Catherine Kelleghan McGee, and Lee Smyth; and four great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Moe Yarbrough, Charley McCool, Jeff Fulton, Max McGee, David Wilson, Sonny White, Henry Brandt, and Tony Wilder. Memorials may be made to Louisville Presbyterian Church, P. O.
