Mr. Ernest Gene Fleming, 73, went home to be with the Lord on September 30, 2012, at his home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 3rd, at Campground United Methodist Church, with Rev. Larry Haggard officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home. Interment will be in Campground Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Fleming was born December 22, 1938, in Scooba, MS, to Linzie Danner Fleming and Owens Paulette Fleming, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Martha Huntley Fleming of Louisville; daughter, Angela (Brent) Gohring of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; son, Lee Fleming of Henderson, Texas; four grandchildren, Blake, Garrett, and Brooke Gohring, and Linzie Fleming; three brothers, Bobby (Sheila) Fleming of Louisville, MS, Joe (Agnes) Fleming of Louisville, MS, and Terry (Judy) Fleming of Philadelphia, MS; and four sisters, Virginia Mitchell of Louisville, MS, Laverne McKay of Murrayville, GA, Eula (Ted) Betts of Southaven, MS, and Gloria (Wallace) Cade of Starkville, MS; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Bobby Gene Fleming, Owens Paulette Fleming, Jr., and Billy Ray Fleming. Ernest graduated from Louisville High School. He served in the Mississippi National Guard, was a Mason and a Shriner. He was also an active member of Campground United Methodist Church. Ernest was a loving husband, dad, and granddad (Pops). He was married to the love of his life (Martha) for over 50 years. They were married March 31, 1962, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary March 31, 2012, with a very memorable trip to Savannah, GA, and Charleston, SC. Their life together during their first thirty-two years of marriage carried them to many places; Pasadena, TX, Greenwood, MS, Jackson, MS, West Point, MS, Prairie, MS, and Ruston, LA. Ruston was home for the Flemings since both of their children graduated from Ruston High School and Louisiana Tech University. Upon his retirement from Southern Natural Gas Company in 1994, they returned to Louisville, MS. Pallbearers are Mark Fleming, Scotty Fleming, Ronnie Mitchell, Wally Cade, Blake Gohring, and Garrett Gohring.
