Mr. Byron "Bill" Jernigan, Jr., 84, died Sunday, August 11, 2012, at Kindred Healthcare in Madison, TN. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 19th, at Porter Funeral Home, with interment in Murphy Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home. Mr. Jernigan was born October 4, 1927 to the late Mr. Willie Byron Jernigan and Mrs. Ollie Mae Jernigan. He was predeceased by his wife Lillie Graves Jernigan and his sister Marguerite (Ray) Garrett. A loving father that is survived by his daughters, Vicky Abney, Texarkana, TX, Brenda (Ronnie) Sherer of Franklin, TN, Sharon (Bill) Beecroft of Kingston Springs, TN, Terry Day of Nashville, TN, and Rhonda Jernigan (Brad) Grissom of Boulder, CO. He is also survived by his beloved granddaughters, Lesley Voltz, Laura Sherer, Jessica Caldwell, and Erin Peeler, his two great-grandsons, Noah and Skye, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Jernigan was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean War. He was successful in several positions throughout his career in investment banking and sales. He enjoyed watching sports, especially Ole Miss football, NFL football, college basketball, and golf. He never lost his gorgeous hair or his sense of humor. He loved Cadillacs, a good steak and most of all, making the people around him laugh. He lived life fully and with flair, never giving in and never giving up. He will be missed greatly on Earth but Heaven has gained a great soul.
