Mr. Earnest Howard Sloan, 91, died Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Monday, July 30th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Stacy Parvin and Rev. Mike Dowd officiating, with eulogy by Adam Sloan. Interment will be in Whitehall Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home. Mr. Sloan was born July 16, 1921, in Choctaw County, MS. He was a retired bridge foreman with GM &O Railroad. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Whitehall United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ada Sullivan and Hobb Sloan; two sisters, Ada Lee Chamblee and Nannie McQuirter; and a brother, Jimmy Sloan. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Bee Pearson Sloan of Louisville; a daughter, Kay (Lamar) Hailey of Louisville; two sons, Ernie (Lorie) Sloan of Meridian, MS, and Bruce (Terri) Sloan of Bay Springs, MS; a sister, Maude Brown of Greenville, AL; a brother, Fred Sloan of Louisville; three grandchildren, Adam Sloan, Jonathan Sloan, and Jaycee Sloan; and one great grandchild, Gabriel Sloan. Memorials may be made to Whitehall United Methodist Church, or Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
