Alberta Oxner Linch

January 29, 1917 — July 3, 2012

Mrs. Alberto O. “Berta” Linch, 95, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 7th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Billy Bowie and Rev. Jonathan Peeples officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until service time at Porter Funeral Home. Mrs. Linch was born January 29, 1917, in Walnut Grove, MS. She graduated from Carthage High School, and attended beautician school in Jackson, MS. She worked as a beautician in Louisville; and later as a bookkeeper for Turner Hardware, C. E. King Appliances, and for Inter-City Federal Savings Bank. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Linch; and her parents, Rosa Lee Coleman and Z. T. Oxner. She is survived by a sister, Norine (Rudolph) Holton of Jackson, MS; a brother, Thomas (Becky) Moore of Caledonia, MS; two sisters-in-law, Jean (Pruitt) Calvert and Margaret Linch; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Pallbearers will be Nathan Calvert, Lucas Calvert, Kenneth Moore, Steve Quinn, Ron Holton, and Coleman Stapp. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, or Poplar Flat Baptist Church.
