Mr. Dorris Hickman Jones, 87, died Monday, January 2, 2012, at Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 4th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Dr. Brett Golson officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Jones was born August 16, 1924, in Louisville, MS. He and his wife, Helen, owned and operated Jones Men’s Wear in Louisville for over 29 years. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, and Korea. He was a member of the Louisville Rotary Club, where he served as president in 1976. He was a member of the Louisville/Winston County Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Board of Directors of Sunburst Bank. He was a lifelong member and lifetime deacon at First Baptist Church. After his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and all Mississippi State athletic events. He was preceded in death by his son, David Rives Jones, and his parents, Verna and J. B. Jones, and a brother, James Jones. He is survived by his wife, Helen Rives Jones of Louisville; four sisters, Irene Lipscomb of Mashulaville, MS, Mavis Barlow and Syble Miles, both of Florence, MS, and Elizabeth Ezell of Tyler, TX; a sister-in-law, Eloise (Charles) Gully of Louisville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
