Hazel Lorena Ricks Luke, age 83, died at the Louisville Healthcare Center on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 after a long illness. She was born June 22, 1928 in Union, Mississippi to the late H. B. Ricks and Lorena Lang Ricks. She was a member of South Louisville Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and also worked at Jarvis Oil Company for several years in the 1970s. She loved vacationing in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and she and her husband took many trips there through the years. Hazel is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 60 years, James W. Luke. She is also survived by one brother Carl P. Ricks of Jackson, three sisters-in-law, Margaret Copeland Ricks of Jackson, Opal Clark Ricks of Noxapater and Audrey Luke Nowell of Noxapater. She is further survived by scores of much loved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by three brothers, J. Clarence Ricks of Noxapater, Herbert B. Ricks of Meridian and Arthur E. Ricks of Louisville; one sister, Mazelle Ricks of Philadelphia, two sisters-in-law, Ludie Earl Stovall Ricks of Meridian, and Jewel Crocker Ricks of Louisville, and one brother-in-law Lamont Nowell of Noxapater. Funeral services for Hazel Ricks Luke will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, September 15 at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Trent Jaudon officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends and relatives are welcome at the Porter Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 10:00 am until the hour of services. Memorials may be made to the South Louisville Baptist Church, 933 W. Church Avenue, Louisville MS.
