Mr. Clovis A. Hemphill, 84, died Tuesday, July 26, at Regency Hospital in Meridian, MS. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 29th, at 10:00 A.M. at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Jerry Lundy officiating. Interment will be in Sardis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hemphill was born December 15th, 1926, in Winston County. He was a retired carpenter, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He is survived by six sons, James Hemphill of West Point, MS, Randy Hemphill of Louisville, Danny Hemphill of Louisville, Eugene Hemphill of Arizona, John Hemphill of Louisville, David Hemphill of Louisville; one daughter, Cathy Ferris of Louisville; and two sisters, Gerdie B. Bateman of Meridian, MS and Lillie Eatman of Bossier City, LA; 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Sheryl Hemphill, Jimmy Hemphill, Bernion Hemphill, Dennis McLemore, Robert Hemphill Jr., and Johnny Eatman.
