Mrs. Dorothy R. Vickers, 91, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at her home in Sturgis, MS. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, Feb. 11th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Junior Davis and Rev. George Pugh, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Vickers was born August 15, 1919, in Oktibbeha County, MS. She was a retired manager for the Mississippi State Food Service Dept., and was a member of Morgan Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Vickers, her parents, Annie Lou Hamill and Joseph Luther Crowson; three sisters, Margaret Cole, Mae Pugh Huss, and Ann Russell; and five brothers, Crandler Crowson, Joe Crowson, Bedford Crowson, Roger Crowson, and Charles Crowson. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Roy) Sharp of Sturgis; a son, Troy (Diane) Vickers of Houston, TX; a brother, Herald “Jim” Crowson of Willow Spring, MC; grandchildren, Scott (Kelly) Sharp, Sonja (Sid) Massey, Anna Vickers, and Maggie Vickers; and 6 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Scott Sharp, Kevin Sharp, John Ethan Sharp, Sid Massey, Drew Massey, and James Marshall “Bachie” Vickers. Memorials may be made to Palmer Home for Children, P.O.
